I HATE using the phone and will do anything to avoid doing it. I send emails when I can. If the phone rings, I let the voice machine get it because it is too intimidating to pick up the phone without knowing who's calling. If it is someone I know well, then my conversation will be free flowing and relaxed. But if it is a stranger or someone that I know through acquaintances, then I block or stutter trying to say what I want to say. Life can be painful for us and frustrating. I hope that you continue to keep us updated.

Cheers!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9635324.post-1126570409759387462005-09-12T20:13:00.000-04:002005-09-12T20:13:00.000-04:00Pflock, no I don't read aloud here, because I'm at...Pflock, no I don't read aloud here, because I'm at the point where I can read perfectly as long as I want. At first, reading aloud is a good warmup and good for people who are new to therapy, but I have been in and out of therapy for 15 years, so I'm pretty good at that. Although, some times if I have to make a phone call I will write down ver batum what I want to say and basically read it. I used to do that for ordering food and appointment calls, not to friends or anything because a lot of the time it doesn't sound natural. Also, any time I am by myself and talking, whether I'm thinking aloud or talking to my dog or anything like that I don't stutter. That happens for most people who stutter.Patrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10406821039089567020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9635324.post-1126486695490852402005-09-11T20:58:00.000-04:002005-09-11T20:58:00.000-04:00Grif, I'm curious. If so, are you able to read straight through page after page without stuttering, or is reading just like normal speech, where you need to focus on the breathing?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9635324.post-1126484000743388642005-09-11T20:13:00.000-04:002005-09-11T20:13:00.000-04:00Hi Pat,I've been curious and reading your blog. I never knew how well you could write before and I'm very impressed and jealous :) Also, I wanted to let you know that your blog has been a pleasure to read. I've learned a lot about stuttering (and about you) that I never knew before. Hope that school is going well--And I am in Worcester so keep in touch... we can grab a drink sometime :)

DanielleAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9635324.post-1126460758872209142005-09-11T13:45:00.000-04:002005-09-11T13:45:00.000-04:00Molly, These robots suck, I keep thinking people a...Molly, These robots suck, I keep thinking people are leaving comments so I get disappointed. Yes, the computer recordings are the same as the tapes. The 1-800-I-Feel-OK had nothing to do with the tapes, but there was this stuff called OK Soda where you would call up and leave some message about it, it was funny at the time. I think the time period just coincided with it.Patrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10406821039089567020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9635324.post-1126396353800939292005-09-10T19:52:00.000-04:002005-09-10T19:52:00.000-04:00aw gay you're getting spam robots.wondering, does ...aw gay you're getting spam robots.

wondering, does what you record on your computer basically function the same way doing those tape recordings did? and, because i have some weird memory tied to this, did stuttering have anything to do with 1800-OKAY or whatever that was?

good title, by the way.mollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11974791290568967116noreply@blogger.com
